Marine Education in the Northwest Germany Marine Research Association

The northwestern region of Germany is internationally recognized for its excellence in marine, polar and climate research.
Together, universities and research institutions build a strong training network for early career scientists. Within the Northwest German Marine Research Association Structured M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs guarantee marine education and supervision on its highest level.

Collaboration Network of Marine Graduate Programs The language of education in all graduate courses is English. In most programs, international students make up half of the student body. Close cooperation between the research institutions ensures that early career scientists are welcome to participate in trainings offered by programs other than their own.

Institutes surrounding the IMPRS

The attractiveness of the IMPRS is additionally enriched and enhanced by the MARUM - Center for Marine Environmental Sciences, a marine geological research center granted to the University of Bremen by the German Research Foundation. The Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) as well as the PhD program "Environmental Sciences and Biodiversity" at the Graduate School 'Science & Technology' at the University of Oldenburg are supplementing the IMPRS excellently. The Center for Marine Tropical Ecology with its M. Sc. program "International Studies in Tropical Ecology" (ISATEC) further supplement the IMPRS.
